As the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Direct Entry (DE) examination get closer the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) held a meeting with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

In the meeting held with the heads of NSCDC in Abuja to discuss how best both agencies can make the examination free of malpractices.

Speaking on his part, the JAMB boss, Professor Ishaq Oloyede charged the NSCDC to maintain professionalism as he frowned at previous reports in the JAMB Bulletin that indicted some NSCDC officials of unprofessional conduct.

Some of the NSCDC officials, who were assigned to provide security in the 2022 UTME/DE examination centres were of various unprofessional.

These included lateness to their duty posts, harassment, and extortion of candidates.

Professor Oloyede reiterated that if appropriate punishment is meted out to erring officials, it will deter others from such unprofessional and or, at the best bring it to an end.

He said that the corp should look into the issues that arose from the previous UTME examination and their other engagements with JAMB as pointed out that NSCDC has a crucial role to play in JAMB’s conduct of a decent examination.

On his part, the head of the representatives of the NSCDC, Ag. Deputy Commandant-General, Operations.

Mr. Mohammed Haruna Lawal, promised the body that all the issues raised by the examination body will be addressed in an upcoming meeting with the corps’ Commandant-General and states commandants.

He also said that the meeting will also avail them the fora to fish out the indicted officers and fashion out appropriate punishment for them while reiterating the corps’s leadership commitment to making the JAMB-NSCDC relationship a one geared towards the betterment of education and the nation at large.

In another development, JAMB has urged candidates who registered for the 2022 UTME and indicated an interest in the mock-UTME to proceed and print out their mock examination slip.

The 2022 mock examination slip will provide candidates who had registered their interest in the voluntary examination, their examination venue, seat number, date, and time of the exam.

Candidates are also directed by JAMB to pay the sum of 1000 Naira to their designated examination centres.

This sum of 1000 Naira is a fee that covers the cost of the use of the private facilities for the examination purpose.
