United Nations Internship Programme for African Students 2022

The post will be based in Regional Office of Africa (ROA). The internship is expected to start on June 17, 2023 and last 2 weeks initially.

This position is for a job internship at UNCCTD at Addis Ababa. UN does not expect to work after completing the internship.

Interns will have no chance for a position within the Secretariat for six months following the end of their training. UN intern needs to hold valid visa.

United Nations Internship Programme for African Students 2022

Under the supervision of UN’s Economic Commission for Africa, the United Nations Internship Program is a way for African students learn how to solve problems on the continent and find local solutions.

In April 2021, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Africa Sports Unified(ASU) launched the Programme of Work on Sport and Trade.

This programme leverages the power of sport to support inclusive implementation of African Continental Free Trade Areas (AfCFTA). It targets youth, women and girls as well as persons with disabilities.

Through knowledge generation and stakeholder involvement, the programme seeks to investigate and exploit the relationship between AfCFTA sport and the AfCFTA.

This programme will explore how regional cooperation, entrepreneurship and employability can be promoted by a sustainable and inclusive sports ecosystem.

United Nations Internship Programme for African Students Requirements:

The following conditions are required to be eligible for an internship at the United Nations Internship Programme:

  • The following requirements must be met by applicants: (a. be enrolled at a graduate program (second university degree, equivalent or higher); or (b. be enrolled during the last academic year of a primary university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c. have graduated from a university as defined above and must begin the internship within one year.
  • Computer literacy in standard software applications is a must
  • Are a keen observer of the work of United Nations and have an emotional connection to the Charter’s ideals.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact well with people of different cultures and beliefs. This includes the willingness to understand and to be open to other opinions.

United Nations Internship Programme for African Students Duration and reward

The internship lasts six months.

This internship is UNPAID. It is full-time. The internship is completely home-based.

The interns work five days a week (35 hours) under supervision from a staff member of the office or department to which they are assigned.
