Machine learning and artificial intelligence knowledge across the African continent is expected to see a major boostthanks to the highly high-quality scholarships that will be granted to postgraduate students in the areas of applied math and statistics, electronic and electrical computing, and engineering in Stellenbosch University (SU).

SU was the very first African university to receive these scholarships from DeepMind which is a London-based pioneer in research into artificial intelligence and its applications within the actual world.

DeepMind was founded in London in 2010 , and its DeepMind scholarship program is part a larger initiative launched by the company to expand the participation of scientists and help the research ecosystem in general, especially in Africa.

This MSc in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence is a structured one-year master’s program at Stellenbosch University, designed for students with a solid background in computational and mathematical sciences.

The program will provide students with the basics that are required for ML and AI and a range of cutting-edge strategies and concepts that are at the forefront of research in these areas.

The scholarships will be offered to students across sub-Saharan Africa , who want to conduct research on machine learning. The winners will be chosen by the university to start their studies in 2022.

This DeepMind Scholarship programme gives talented students from underrepresented groups in machine-learning, including women, the assistance they require to attend top universities.

The fees are fully paid and students receive assistance and guidance by DeepMind mentors.
