The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and it’s counterpart the Non Academic Staff Union of Allied and Education Institutions (NASU) have both reached a reasonable conclusion to extend their warning strike by a further one month.
This disclosure were made known by the Leadership of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the non teaching staff unions of universities of whom announced their intention of extending its warning strike action by a further month.
This announcement were disclosed with the aid of a circular jointly signed by the national president of SSANU in the person of Muhammed Ibrahim on behalf of the union alongside its general secretary, Peters Adeyemi to afford the federal government more time to come to terms in meeting each and everyone of their demands.
Recount that both SSANU and NASU joined the likes of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU in embarking on a Nationwide strike as regards to the failure of the government to meet some of their needs even though the Federal Government, through its Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had earlier vowed and promised that the government would clear the outstanding minimum wage arrears, the unions even at that still insisted on strike actions.
The Issues of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, unpaid earned allowances, and delay in the renegotiation of FGN, NASU, SSANU agreements, and nonpayment of minimum wage arrears, neglect and poor funding of state universities and non payment of retirement benefits to outgoing members of the unions, among others are resolutions yet to come in terms by the federal government.
