ASUU Threatens to Penalise University Chapters for Failing to Comply with Ongoing Strike

Universities that do not comply with the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ decision to remain on strike while negotiations with the Federal Government continue will be sanctioned were the message put across and directives laid down by the governing body to its members institution.

This disclosure were put across by the president of the governing body himself in the person of Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, who pit this message across during his media briefing with men of the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

The ptesident laid emphasis on the fact that ASUU had been on strike for the past four all due to the fact that it has got to pursue its demands that has been neglected by the federal government.

Such demands being talked about comes in the form of money for public university revitalization, while others includes Earned Academic Allowances, University Transparency Accountability Solution, and promotion arrears, Renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FG Agreement and inconsistencies in the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System are among the others.

In the words of his mouth, the president of the union could be clearly heard hammering on the issue of which he noted “we’ll make certain to question query them, and we’ll follow up in the proper manner”

“We’ve even queried a few of them, as per the union’s guidelines, There hasn’t been another Tripartite Plus meeting on the ongoing industrial action since the last one, called by the President’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, over a month ago”

“we haven’t been called for another meeting since then, and the government hasn’t offered us anything; all they’ve asked us to do is meet with the committee,” he added.

The president of the union further went on to add and lay emphasis on the fact that the union alongside the federal government are both scheduled for a meeting within the week.
