“ASUU ready to call off strike” were the cryptic discussion of Hunan right activist Falana as he lays down conditions that could make that take effect.
Stating facts as to why that could happen, the human rights lawyer, Femi Falana noted that the number one governing body of tertiary institutions in the country which is the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is ready to call off its infamous strike action.
This disclosure were made known and put across by the human right activist who also happens to be a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in statement on Thursday.
In his statement put across, Falana called out on the Federal Government to be faithful enough to meet the demands of the lecturers as agreed so as for the strike action which had kicked off on the 14th day of February coming to its halt.
It is worthy to note that just 72 hours ago, the human right activist Falana pleaded on the Federal Government to submit a supplementary budget to appropriate N200bn to revamp federal universities across Nigeria.
In his words, “Based on our consultation with the leadership of
ASUU, we have confirmed that the entire members of ASUU are prepared to call off the strike as soon as the FG/ASUU Renegotiated Agreement is executed by the Federal Government.”
“In this circumstance, we are compelled to call on President Buhari to end the industrial action by directing the Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu to execute the Renegotiated Agreement”
“The Agreement should be executed as soon as possible in the public interest,” Falana added.
