Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as well as other universities governing body of polytechnics and Colleges of Education as being assured of their reimbursement worth N34 billion as arrears of Minimum Wage Consequential Adjustments in the education sector effective from 2019 as part of the move to bring the nationwide strike to an halt.
This disclosure were made known by the Minister of Labour and Employment in the person of Sen. Chris Ngige on behalf of the federal government at a media briefi at the Federal Capital Teeeiyo as regards to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and its counterparts.
According to the minister himself, the sharing ratio of the funds soon to be reimbursed is to take this form of ehich universities would get N23.5 billion, polytechnics N6 billion and the Colleges of Education N4 billion, totalling about N34 billion as the battles against bringing the strike to an halt continues.
Bringing journalist up to speed in his media briefing as regarding the Federal Government next line of action when he noted “Those committees are working. The one on National Information Technology Development Agency is testing the three platforms-the government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, the University Transparency Accountability Solution of ASUU and the Universities Peculiar Personnel Payroll System of the non-teaching staff”.
He further went on to add “They started the testing last Thursday. The National Salaries Incomes and Wages Commission has issued its amendment circulars. The unions also have copies to take care of responsibility and hazard allowances wherever it has not been properly captured”.
Ngige further went on to plead with the university governing bodies to suspend the ongoing Asuu strike as they strive to meet up with their demands.
