Adamu Adamu, the Minister for Education Adamu Adamu, has given his approval to the alevel databank establishment of an Advanced Level (A Level) certificates data bank within the country to reduce the number of cases of fraudulent certificates.

With this move, a important step in putting in place the practice of multiple registrations and other blunders to gain admission to universities will be stopped.
The Director of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professor. Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja at the beginning session of a three-day training designed for Public Relations’ staff of the Board.
The event, held in collaboration in conjunction with Premium Times Academy had as its topic”Media, Publicity and Public Relations in the Modern Age.’
In the course, Oloyede, represented by the Director of JAMB’s Legal Services, Dr Abdul Wahab Oyedokun He said that it was clear that the Board has taken a number of measures to ensure the sanity of the examination process.
According to Oloyede the date bank will ensure that all A Level results are recorded on one platform , thereby bringing about consistency and authenticity of the certificates.
“In the last year and the second term of Professor Oloyede as the registrar of JAMB one of the main tasks we had to do was examine some of the issues that are taking place in this JUPEB as well as IJMB.
“And in the final exam, we held an audience of stakeholders and invited the managers of these organizations and we asked a few questions.
We also worked with other security agencies to expand our wings across the nation to observe what’s taking place and more than 47 owners of these, along with certain teachers and lecturers, as well as individuals who collaborated with them in committing malpractices were arrested throughout the nation.
“The Minister for Education graciously endorsed the creation of an “A Level” data bank. For instance, at one particular school 90 percent of applicants who showed their ‘A-Level’ grades for admission were found out to be fraudulent,” the JAMB boss stated.

In an address, Oloyede also revealed that between 2017 and 2022 an amount in the region of N27.2 billion was paid to the coffers of the federal government by the Board while N9.7 billion was allocated to capital projects during the same time.
He also gave the breakdown of payments as: 2017 was N7.8 billion, 2018, -N5.2 billion. In 2019, it was N3.76 billion., N3.76 billion 2020-N4 billion 2021 — N3.5 billion, and 2022 N3 billion.
Then, JAMB’s Head of Media and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who commended Oloyede for his overwhelming assistance to the workshop asked staff of the Board’s Public Relations staff to capitalize the learnings to help them perform better in the execution of their responsibilities amid the increase on citizen media.

He said: “Today’s media has changed the way influence is portrayed and placed the power into the hands of ordinary citizens. PROs are now required to participate in conversations through a variety of new tools and channels.
This is why they need this seminar, which is targeted at establishing and maintaining the perception of JAMB in the face of the smear campaigns and misrepresentations of the activities on the Board.
